Story Behind
Yama Buddha (Anil Adhikari) was a pioneering Nepali rapper widely regarded as the King of Nephop. Born on 30 May 1987 in Morang, Nepal, he transformed Nepal’s hip-hop scene with powerful, socially conscious lyrics that spoke to youth struggles, inequality, and real-life experiences. Known for impactful songs like “Saathi,” “Aama,” “Yestai Ta Ho,” and “Timro Bato,” he became a household name and an inspiration for a generation of artists.
He also founded Raw Barz, Nepal’s first rap battle league, which helped discover major talents in the industry. Even after his untimely passing in 2017, Yama Buddha’s legacy continues to shape and inspire the evolution of Nepali hip-hop.
