Diwas Gurung is a Nepali singer, songwriter, producer, and mixer currently based in New York. Growing up in Kathmandu, he never imagined he would become one of Nepal's most sought-after music producers. Over the past three decades, he has played a key role in shaping the modern Nepali music scene, working with both Nepali and international bands and leading multiple solo projects. Diwas has collaborated with some of Nepal's biggest rising stars, such as Bartika Eam Rai, Bikki Gurung, Yugal Gurung, and more recently Dibesh Pokharel, also known as Arthur Gunn.

"It's great to be working with people like these," says Gurung. "I get to learn things as well, which, in the music business, helps you evolve in a way."

Besides producing for others, Gurung is also a talented singer and songwriter in his own right. His music features nostalgic, meaningful lyrics paired with soulful vocals and rhythmic melodies, evoking a deep emotional connection with listeners. While his work as a producer may sometimes overshadow his singing talent, Gurung continues to create music for himself. In the future, he plans to start a studio in Nepal, making his own music and helping young Nepali musicians achieve global recognition.

Gurung graduated with a degree in Economics in 2006 but chose to follow his passion for music. He gained recognition as part of the US-based band Ayurveda, which released four official albums and completed four national tours. He also recorded a Nepali album titled Rato Mato, which showcased his connection to his roots.

More recently, Diwas Gurung, along with bandmates Dan Halperin and Mike Parker, transitioned from Ayurveda to form a new project called Photoreal. The music of Photoreal blends elements of rock and electronic music, taking Gurung’s musical journey in an exciting new direction. With his diverse talents and determination, Diwas Gurung remains an influential figure in both the Nepali and international music scenes.
