Story Behind
Sugam Pokhrel, born on 20th September 1979 in Mangalbaaray, Morang, stands as one of the most renowned figures in the Nepali Music Industry, recognized for his exceptional skills as both a singer and composer. As the youngest child among two brothers and two sisters, Sugam's journey into the realm of music was not initially predictable.
During his early years, Sugam was a shy child who found solace and inspiration in the songs of Sanjay Shrestha, Deep Shrestha, and Harish Mathema. Little did he know that these influences would shape his destiny and lead him toward a future in music.
Sugam's interest in music blossomed during his school days, where he would often showcase his singing talents at various functions and gatherings. Encouraged by the praise he received for his voice, Sugam felt inspired to explore a career in singing. However, becoming a professional singer was not on his initial agenda.
After completing his School Leaving Certificate (SLC), Sugam, like many other ambitious students, ventured to Kathmandu. Despite having no immediate plans of pursuing a singing career, he found himself contemplating the idea of recording a song and harboring a wish to make it happen.
In the year 2058, Sugam recorded his third song titled "Mero Sansar," featuring his own lyrics and composition. The song was released, captivating the hearts of music enthusiasts and marking the beginning of Sugam Pokhrel's impactful journey in the music industry. Following the success of "Mero Sansar," Sugam released another hit single, "Pheri Tyodin," which secured the top position in music countdowns for consecutive months.
Buoyed by the popularity of these two singles, Sugam's debut album "Shunya" was introduced to the music scene and achieved remarkable success. His musical prowess and ability to connect with the audience propelled him into the spotlight.
Beyond his musical endeavors, Sugam Pokhrel engages in various hobbies, including listening to music, watching television, and playing the guitar. His literary interests extend to reading novels by Laxmi Prasad Devkota and Dhurba Chandra Gatam. Influenced by renowned Nepali singers such as Narayan Gopal, Bhakta Raj Acharya, Ambar Gurung, Nabin K Bhattrai, Sur Sudha, and Sanjay Shrestha, Sugam values the impact of good music on his artistic expression.
