Story Behind
Raju Lama is a veteran Nepali singer, songwriter, and musician, best known as the founder and lead vocalist of The Angels Band. Formed in the early 1990s, the band quickly became recognized for its unique sound that blended heartfelt Nepali lyrics with contemporary pop and rock influences.
The Angels Band released their debut album “Maun Jeevan” in 1991, marking the beginning of a journey that would resonate deeply with Nepali music lovers. Over the years, Raju Lama has remained at the heart of the band, lending his powerful vocals and soulful compositions to songs that explore themes of love, longing, and the struggles of life.
Some of the band’s most memorable works include the recently released “Kati Chhan” (2024), which features Raju alongside longtime bandmates Rajesh, Bikash, and Tashi. Their music continues to strike a chord with audiences both in Nepal and among the global Nepali diaspora.
Beyond his music, Raju Lama is admired for his dedication to keeping the spirit of Nepali pop-rock alive across decades. He remains an active performer, frequently appearing at cultural events and festivals such as Nepal Day 2025 in Boston, where he represented Nepali music on an international stage.
With over three decades of contribution to Nepal’s modern music scene, Raju Lama stands as an inspiring figure—an artist whose journey reflects passion, resilience, and a deep connection with his audience.
